gaussian blur.

in this tutorial you will learn how to apply a gaussian blur onto a picture. it makes it look clearer and the colors stand out brighter.

i'm using Adobe Photoshop 2.0, but this tutorial will work the same with all higher versions.

first, open adobe photoshop, and open a new picture. i started with this picture;
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

then, go to "layer" and go down a tiny bit, to where it says "duplicate layer" and click it.

[click thumbnail for larger view]

a new window will open up, asking about duplicating the layer.

next, go to "filter" and scroll down to "blur". click it, and select "gaussian blur"

then, change the radius to 1.0.

and click okay. now, go to your layers, and select the background copy. at the top where it says "normal" change it to overlay.

you can adjust the opacity, if the gaussian blur turned out too strong, or changed the picture too much. lower the opacity to suit your preference.

now you have this:
